Many Harrison County nonprofit organizations engage in youth-driven community service projects in the county that benefit youth. These organizations are eligible to apply for Harrison County Youth Philanthropy Council (YPC) grants.

The 2020 YPC online grant application is available at hccfindiana.org/Grants. Applications must be submitted by Friday, Feb. 28 at 4 p.m. to be considered.

Projects being considered for a grant should engage youth in society by creating healthy relationships with adults, providing constructive free-time activities, offering character-building opportunities and encouraging a sense of community. Activities can include, but are not limited to, arts, music, sports, leisure and other activities that occur in a fun and safe environment.

High-priority projects identify innovative and challenging ways to engage youth to participate. The maximum YPC grant award for a project is $2,000. Grant recipients will be notified in April.

Performance groups, Boy Scout troops, centers serving youth and 4-H clubs have received YPC grants in the past.

In the YPC, members identify what they are truly passionate about and learn how to serve their community. In addition to awarding grants to local nonprofit organizations, YPC members complete activities and service projects to learn about and experience philanthropy firsthand.
