Many educators teaching dual credit classes in Harrison County schools have to take additional college courses to stay qualified to teach their classes. Starting in 2022, dual credit teachers need to have a master’s degree and 18 or more credit hours in the subject they teach, according to the Higher Learning Commission. Meanwhile, other teachers in Harrison County may want to take graduate courses to further their teaching expertise.

These teachers may be eligible to apply for the IU Southeast Harrison County Education Scholarship through the Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF). The scholarship provides support to students attending IU Southeast and enrolled in graduate-level courses in the School of Education. All recipients must be employed by a school corporation of Harrison County, Indiana.

The IU Southeast Harrison County Education Scholarship Application is available at hccfindiana.org/Scholarships. Applications must be submitted by Tuesday, March 31 at 4 p.m. to be considered.

To learn more about the application or to get questions answered, contact Heather Stafford, Director of Programs at the Harrison County Community Foundation, at 812-738-6668 or heathers@hccfindiana.org.
