Miles' Fund Scholarship can help students wanting to get new skills

Many people are looking to gain new skills to give them a leg up. Several vocational and trade careers at construction companies, factories, hospitals, tech companies, home repair businesses and other organizations are in demand. Students can complete vocational and trade programs in a shorter time frame than associate's or bachelor's degree programs.

To help students in trade or vocational programs pay for their education, the Harrison County Community Foundation provides the Miles' Fund Scholarship. The scholarship application is available at hccfindiana.org on the Scholarships page in the Our Work tab. Applications must be submitted online by Saturday, Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. to be considered.

Applicants must be between 18 and 21 years of age and be legal residents of Harrison County. Funding may be used for tuition, books, course-related fees and required tools, uniforms or supplies.

Books, tools, uniforms and supplies must be verified by the student's course syllabus and class schedule. Preference is given to students who have not received funding in previous application cycles.
