In a time of heightened health awareness, the healthcare workers are more important than ever. Many students study for a career in the medical field because they are dedicated to helping people, whether in a clinical setting or through research. Dentists have a significant role to play in society also because, according to Colgate Professional, problems in your mouth can lead to or be signs of underlying health conditions, such as heart disease or diabetes.

The Harrison County Community Foundation can help students who are attending a qualified medical or dental school be able to learn the skills they need to help patients without accumulating student loan debt. The Jessie L. Fogal and Arlie L. Fogal Scholarship is a generous scholarship renewable for up to six years. The online scholarship application is available at hccfindiana.org on the Scholarships page in the Our Work tab.

The Jessie L. Fogal and Arlie L. Fogal Scholarship is for students taking courses in an advanced medical and/or dental degree program (MD, DMD and/or DDS). Applicants must have been residents of Harrison County at the time of their high school graduation, and they must have maintained a minimum of a B+ average while in high school.

Preference will be given to applicants who have financial need and a desire to return to Harrison County to practice their profession. Applications must be submitted by Monday, June 15 at 4 p.m. to be considered.
