Fund Purpose Provides scholarships to graduating seniors of Lanesville High School.
Fund Story The Clyde E. Marrillia Memorial Scholarship Fund is held at the Harrison County Community Foundation to provide scholarship support to graduating seniors of Lanesville High School. The fund was established by the family and many friends of Clyde's after his death in 2000.
Clyde was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but his family moved to Lanesville, Indiana when he was 3. He played basketball for the Lanesville Eagles and graduated from Lanesville High School in 1948. Clyde married Ida Johns of Louisville in 1957. Clyde and Ida had two sons, Kevin and Scott, and a daughter, Lisa. They also have two grandsons and two granddaughters.
He was a retired employee of B.F. Goodrich and Zeon Co. in Louisville. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Lanesville United Methodist Church where he had served as chairman of the board of trustees. Clyde was also a farmer of cattle, hay and swine.
Clyde was also a member of the Georgetown Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite in Evansville, Kosair Shrine in Louisville, Lanesville Heritage Committee, Franklin Township Athletic Club, Floyd County Coon Hunters Club, Lanesville Lions Club and Old Capitol Post VFW in Corydon. He was an Associate Member of the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce. He served as a trustee of Franklin Township from 1971 to 1990 and then served as a district representative on the Harrison County Council from 1995 to 1998. Clyde served as trustee in 1976, the first year the Lanesville Heritage Weekend was held as a bicentennial celebration.
Clyde died of Leukemia on Tuesday, August 29, 2000 at the age of 71. He was buried at the Lanesville Cemetery with military rites performed.
"Clyde was certainly proud of the school and proud of the Lanesville community and I know he would be very proud of this scholarship fund," said Ida.
