Fund Purpose
Provides support for educational scholarships for graduating high school seniors from North Harrison High School who have participated in a high school athletic program.

Fund Story
The family and friends of the late Philip Pace established a scholarship fund in his memory at the Harrison County Community Foundation in 2007.   The Phil Pace Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to graduating high school seniors of North Harrison High School who have participated in a high school athletic program.  Phil's friends and colleagues originally established the scholarship in 1999 in his memory.

Phil Pace was born January 16, 1952, in Bedford, Indiana to Robert and Betty Pace.  He also had a sister, Cynthia.  Phil attended Shawswick High School and graduated from Anderson University in 1970 with a degree in Education.

Phil married Doris Crawford in 1977. They had three children; Jonathan, Neal and Brandon who are all graduates of North Harrison High School.

Phil taught Science and Health classes at North Harrison High School for 24 years.  While at North Harrison, he became very involved in the athletic program coaching basketball, football, golf, track, and cross country.  During his 5 years as the Boys Varsity Head Coach, his teams won two sectional championships.

"Phil was very dedicated to the school’s functions and growth of young athletes, “said Doris. He was a member of the Indiana State Teacher's Association, leader of the youth basketball program, high school and post-graduation intramural programs, drove the team buses to games, and worked many events as a school official.   ''Phil was dedicated to the physical, mental and social growth of the county’s youth through   " athletics as well as in the classroom," Doris added.

Phil passed away on July 26, 1998.  He is buried at the Beechgrove Cemetery in Bedford, Indiana.

'The Phil Pace Memorial Scholarship Fund .is a reflection on the dedication Phil had to the North Harrison School Corporation and the community's development of our youth," said Doris.
