Fund Purpose Provides educational scholarships for graduating seniors of Harrison County who are majoring in agriculture business, agriculture education or an agriculture-related field. Recipients must be attending an accredited public or private institution.
Fund Story The family of Charles “Bob” and Frances Chinn has established an endowment fund with the Harrison County Community Foundation to honor the memory of their parents. The Charles R. and Frances M. Chinn Memorial Scholarship Fund will provide scholarships for graduating high school seniors who reside in Harrison County and who are majoring in Agriculture Business, Agriculture Education, or an Agriculture Related Field. The award will be announced upon the student’s high school graduation and become available following the completion of 24 college credit hours. Students may be pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree.
Bob Chinn was a well know businessman who owned and operated Chinn Equipment Company, Inc. in Ramsey. Bob and Frances met while attending Corydon Central High School. Frances graduated in 1946 but Bob had left school early to join the Navy during WWII. He came back to finish and graduated in 1947. Their family included son Larry Chinn who continues to operate the equipment business, Robert A. Chinn, and daughter Judith Chinn Howey. The family grew to include their children’s spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob Chinn died in April 2013; Frances preceded him in April 1982.
