Fund Purpose Provides general support to Personal Counseling Service, Inc.
Fund Story Personal Counseling Service, Inc. (PCS) is a non-profit organization established in 1959. Our accreditation bodies include the Samaritan Institute in Denver, Colorado and the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. PCS is also a part of the Better Business Bureau's Charity Review in Louisville, Kentucky. Since 1959, PCS has maintained a multi-disciplinary, professional staff that has provided more than 570,000 hours of individual, couple, family and group therapy to 92,000 children, youth and adults, in addition to psychological and psychiatric services.
PCS served 2,997 clients in 2013; Sixty-one percent (61%) of our clients and patients were children and youth and most from single-parent homes. Forty-seven percent (47%) of our clients are considered "working poor", at or below the federal poverty guidelines, under-insured or uninsured.
PCS has been called innovative in terms of our collaborations to better serve our communities. Examples of such are partnerships with Spalding University where doctorate level psychology students conduct their internship at PCS and the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary where master's level students complete practicum work with clients at PCS.
