Fund Story The Canaan Timberlake Electrical Apprenticeship Scholarship Fund was established atthe Harrison County Community Foundation in 2003 in memory of Canaan Timberlake to provide scholarship support to graduates of North Harrison High School.
Canaan Dale Timberlake was born February 22, 1983 in Louisville, Kentucky. He resided in Harrison County and was a 2001 graduate of North Harrison High School. Canaan was a huge sports fan, playing both football and basketball for the North Harrison Cougars.
Canaan was the son of Cindi Schneider-Zollman and Ellis Timberlake. He had one older brother, Chase.
"You never saw him without a smile on his face,” said Cindi. He enjoyed hobbies such as making whittle sticks, fishing and hunting. He also loved to collect arrowheads. His mother said she has cases and cases of arrowheads which Canaan collected over the years, starting when he was about 10 years old. “More than anything though, Canaan enjoyed being with his friends.”
Canaan worked for Whittaker Lawn Care in Ramsey and then for Don Hanen Electric in New Salisbury. He was in his second year in the Electrical Apprenticeship Program at the Independent Electrical Contractors School in Louisville, from which he had earned a four year scholarship.
Canaan died September 29, 2003 in an automobile accident at the age of 20. He is buried in. St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery.
This scholarship is presented each year to a graduating senior of North Harrison High School who is interested in the electrical field of study or who has participated in high school sponsored sports programs.
The creation of this scholarship was a wonderful way to commemorate this beloved son, brother and friend.
