The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) Board of Directors has approved a $200,000 grant to assist Blue River Services, Inc. (BRS) in building additional affordable housing in Harrison County.

This HCCF grant will help BRS secure the additional funding needed to complete the Autumn Ridge Duplexes; the Duplexes will be constructed at the site of Blue River's Autumn Ridge Apartments which are North of Corydon off Hwy 135.

Autumn Ridge Apartments were first developed in 2006, also with the help of HCCF funding. The 24 apartment units have maintained full occupancy for the last 15 years and demonstrate the need for more affordable housing.

“The Harrison County Community Foundation Board of Directors recognizes the need for affordable housing options here in Harrison County. With so many challenges for families to obtain housing, our hope is this addition to Autumn Ridge will help Harrison County residents to have a safe and affordable place to call home.” said Julie Moorman, President & CEO of HCCF.

The Autumn Ridge Duplex development will consist of four buildings with two units each. Each unit will be approximately 890 square feet and have two bedrooms.

Blue River Services, Inc. is a Certified Housing and Development Organization that has developed 233 units in Harrison and Washington Counties. BRS Inc will continue to run and manage the expansion at Autumn Ridge.

The BRS motto is “People Serving People” by providing exceptional services at all stages of life, level of ability, or income. The Autumn Ridge Duplexes embody the BRS motto by providing quality affordable housing in Harrison County.

"This project will help address an unmet need for affordable housing in rural Harrison County," said Daniel J. Lowe, CEO of Blue River Services, Inc. "Community partners like HCCF play an integral role in helping us continue our mission to serve."

The Autumn Ridge Duplex development is expected to be completed sometime in Fall 2024.

To date, HCCF has awarded more than $110 million in grants, scholarships, and other support to Harrison County nonprofits and residents. For more information about HCCF grants and policies, visit hccfindiana.org, or contact Anna Curts, Grants Manager, at 812-738-6668 or annac@hccfindiana.org.
