Sarah Travis is a long-standing resident of Harrison County. She is a graduate of Corydon Central High School and later earned an Associate Degree in Merchandising & Marketing Sales Management from Sullivan University in Louisville, Kentucky. She is also a graduate of Leadership Harrison County, Class of 2015; and more recently earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Board Education through BoardSource.
Sarah is seasoned in providing administrative support with over 20 years’ experience to agencies in the nonprofit community. In 2002 she was first introduced to community foundations while working as the Executive Assistant at the Community Foundation of Crawford County until 2006 when she relocated to Illinois.
Sarah worked at the Social Security Administration in 2006, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois until relocating back to Harrison County in 2010. Sarah encountered a diverse population through processing applications for Social Security Numbers, and completing applications for Disability by conducting interviews with individuals.
Sarah joined the Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) staff in May 2012 as the Administrative Assistant where she continued her passion of working for a community foundation. In 2021 she took on a new role as Office Manager.
In addition to providing administrative support to the President & CEO and other staff, Sarah maintains the conference room calendar, schedules building maintenance, troubleshoots, fixes computer and printer issues, maintains the backside of HCCF’s website, posts news articles to Facebook, purchases building and office supplies, records and types minutes from board meetings, and is the keeper of policy manuals.
Sarah also maintains the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) database of over 1,700 children on a monthly basis including contacting parents, updating addresses, and researching contact information for families that have moved. Additionally, Sarah serves as recorder and schedules speakers for the monthly human services Step Ahead meetings.
Sarah is proficient in Excel creating and updating spreadsheets, and Microsoft Publisher and Power Point to develop and modify marketing materials and create presentations. Sarah is the first person visitors and callers encounter at HCCF and stays familiar with all foundation activity in order to provide assistance.
