Fund Purpose
Provides support for educational scholarships for graduating seniors of Corydon Central High School who have attended at least two years and participated in athletics at least one year.

Fund Story
Thomas J. “Bud” Timberlake of Corydon created a scholarship fund with the Harrison County Community Foundation in 2006.  The Tommy, Sarah and Bud Timberlake Scholarship Fund benefits graduates of Corydon Central High School who are accepted into a certified vocational training program or two or four year public or private institution of higher learning.   The recipients of this scholarship fund must have attended Corydon Central High School for two years and have participated in a school sponsored athletic activity for at least one year.

Bud Timberlake is a resident of Corydon.  He is a WWII veteran earning three Bronze Stars in campaigns in Normandy, Northern France and Germany.  He has been successful in business throughout his life, owning a restaurant, a used car lot and also Bud Timberlake and Son, Inc., a local Sealtest dairy product distributorship. Bud’s son, Tommy, was born October 26, 1943.  He started working with his Dad on the milk route at the age of 9 and was in charge of the route by the time he turned 17.  Sarah was the proud wife and mother of Bud and Tommy.

Sarah died at an early age of an illness in 1958. Tommy enjoyed competing in sports and working in the family business.  Sadly, he died in a car accident near Corydon on July 4, 1961, just before the start of his Senior year at Corydon Central High School. Bud Timberlake created this scholarship fund with great memories of his family and his life in Harrison County.
