Join us for the next workshop in our Nonprofit Growth Series on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 10:30 am to noon, on the topic of charity gaming.  Lunch will be provided.  Topics will include compliance for special events and fundraisers, including raffles, drawings, auctions, licenses, and reporting.  Mark Mason, Director of the Charity Gaming Division of the Indiana Gaming Commission, will be our presenter.

About Mark Mason

Mark R. Mason is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in law enforcement and regulatory compliance. He holds a Master of Jurisprudence Degree in Law from Indiana University, McKinney School of Law, and a Master of Science Degree in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University. Mark's educational journey also includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice/Political Science from Ball State University and an Associate of Arts Degree in Sociology from Manchester College.

In his professional career, Mark has held various leadership positions. As the Director of the Charity Gaming Division, he is responsible for creating a fair and transparent regulatory environment that promotes economic development while ensuring the highest level of integrity. He oversees the regulation and enforcement of charity gaming activities in the State of Indiana and supervises the investigative staff working with licensees. Prior to this role, Mark served as the Assistant Director of the Charity Gaming Division at the Indiana Gaming Commission for six years.

Mark's extensive experience in the gaming industry led him to become an Adjunct Professor at the University of Cincinnati from 2012 to 2013. He taught courses on Casino Operations, Advanced Casino Operations, and Gaming Law. Before that, he had a distinguished career in the Indiana State Police Department, where he held the rank of Major and commanded the Gaming Enforcement Division for over 25 years. He established this division to enforce state and federal laws in the casino environment. Mark also served on the Indiana Gaming Commission's Executive Staff, where he approved licenses and surveillance systems for new casinos in Indiana.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mark has been actively involved in various community and volunteer activities. He has served in leadership roles within his local church and the Boy Scouts of America, receiving the prestigious Silver Beaver Award. He has also volunteered with organizations such as No One Dies Alone at Eskenazi Hospital and served on the boards of the Indiana Council on Problem Gambling and Pioneers of the Indiana State Police.
