Corydon, Ind. (January 17, 2025) The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) is excited to host another year of Board Governance Training. The training is open to any Harrison County-serving nonprofit board member, staff member, or volunteer as an opportunity to improve their nonprofit sustainability and effectiveness.

HCCF will hold this one-day nonprofit board governance training session four different times in 2025. The training sessions will take place on the following dates: Saturday, February 15, Tuesday, April 15, Saturday, August 16, and Tuesday, October 21. All sessions will be held from 9 am to 3 pm at the Harrison County Community Foundation’s conference room. Lunch will be provided. The cost of the training is $100, which will be refunded upon successful completion. Participants must register at least five business days prior to the training date.

Ed Cortas, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives & Consulting at the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, will lead these sessions, providing expert guidance on nonprofit governance. Participants will learn how a board of directors can best make decisions that steer the nonprofit’s work. They will also learn about board members’ legal duties and responsibilities, and how they are accountable to the Internal Revenue Service, the state Attorney General, and the communities they serve.

As a requirement for nonprofits and other entities seeking grant funding from HCCF, at least one current board member must complete an HCCF-approved nonprofit board governance training program.

To register, visit the HCCF website and navigate to the Events tab, where you will find Board Governance Training details. For questions, contact Dakota Benavidez, Office Manager, at dakotab@hccfindiana.org or at (812) 738-6668.
