Agriculture Students can apply for scholarships

Agriculture is an essential part of Harrison County’s past, present, and future. Here in Harrison County, agricultural land use makes up around 50% of the total land in the county, with our leading products being cattle, soybean, hay, and corn.

Students studying to make an impact through agriculture can apply through the Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF). Scholarships make it easier for students to achieve their academic and professional goals. The scholarship applications are available at hccfindiana.org/scholarships.

The 2021 Harrison County Farm Bureau, Inc. Agricultural Scholarship will support majors such as agricultural systems management, agriculture education, sales and service, marketing, or management of food, fiber, and natural resources. Applicants must have been residents of Harrison county at the time of high school graduation and have completed at least 24 hours of college credit, with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8.

The late Herbert Gettelfinger was a lifelong farmer and businessman, founding and co-owning Speedy-Pop Popcorn. The Herbert and Marilyn Gettelfinger Agricultural Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for students who share Herbert Gettelfinger’s passion for agriculture. Students may be studying in various agriculture-related academic programs, such as diesel mechanics, agricultural finance and business, ergonomics, and horticultural sciences. Applicants must have been residents of Harrison county at the time of high school graduation and have completed at least 24 hours of college credit, with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. Students who apply for the scholarship may be in an associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree program.
