The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) Board of Directors recently announced grants awarded at its August meeting. Three nonprofits serving Harrison County were awarded a total of $138,747 in combined support from HCCF. The supported organizations are the South Central Lutheran Camp Association of Indiana, St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities, and 4:34 Ministries.

South Central Lutheran Camp Association of Indiana received $70,000 to restore a pre-Civil War log cabin at their Lakeview Springs location in Lanesville. HCCF’s support will fund electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and equipment rental for the project. The overall goal of the project is to prepare the building to serve as a welcome center for activities such as youth camps, family and group retreats, school groups, outdoor education, business gatherings, and training events.

St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities was awarded $31,200 to provide counseling services to students at St. Joseph Catholic School in Corydon for the 2023-2024 academic year. The counselor will be available for one-on-one and small group sessions for social emotional learning and mental health counseling. Students in need of counseling can be identified by self-referral or by caregivers or teachers.

4:34 Ministries received $37,547 to support renovations to Macy House, which provides transitional housing for the unsheltered in Harrison County. The grant funding will specifically support the replacement of HVAC, roof, gutters, and windows. Residents at Macy House typically stay two to six months.

“We are proud to support these outstanding organizations and their important work in our community,” said Julie Moorman, President & CEO of HCCF. “Their efforts align with our vision of growing Harrison County into the best community to live, work and raise a family.”

HCCF has awarded over $119 million since its founding in 1996 thanks to Caesars Southern Indiana, many generous donors, and profitable investments over the years. To learn more about the grantmaking process, please contact the Foundation at (812) 738-6668 or by visiting hccfindiana.org.
