The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) is proud to announce a significant grant award to the YMCA of Harrison County, totaling $227,786. This grant will enable the acquisition of state-of-the-art cardio equipment with the goal of re-invigorating the local fitness experience.

Featuring cutting-edge technology, including integrated touchscreens, on-demand virtual training programs, and seamless Bluetooth connectivity, these new additions to the YMCA are set to significantly enhance the community’s fitness options. The need for an upgrade was critical, as the current equipment has served the community loyally for over fifteen years, showing signs of wear and tear.

The YMCA and HCCF have had a partnership since 2001, when the YMCA was founded. HCCF supported the YMCA’s initial land purchase and the construction of its current facility. This grant is a continuation of the ongoing collaboration that has spanned over two decades. In the face of challenges brought on by the pandemic, the YMCA has continued to thrive and expand its impact. The facility has seen a substantial upswing, with membership recently reaching over 5,400 individuals of all ages and a notable 25% increase in facility usage from 2020 to 2023.

“It's incredibly rewarding to see the YMCA flourish and increase its reach in Harrison County,” said Julie Moorman, HCCF President and CEO. “This grant exemplifies more than just new gym equipment; it symbolizes HCCF’s dedication to nurturing the health and wellness of our residents.”
