Earlier this year, Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) received a matching fund grant totaling $225,000 as part of the eighth phase of Lilly Endowment Inc.’s Initiative, Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT VIII) Community Project/Program option.

The Foundation allotted $75,000 of the matching grant funding to support participating Harrison County nonprofit organizations working in substance abuse recovery and treatment, including the Genesis House, Freed From Within, and House of New Beginnings. These nonprofits were offered a 1:1 match from Lilly Endowment Inc., which was available to these entities on a first-come, first-served basis. HCCF is proud to announce the full $75,000 goal has been reached between the participating organizations, and matching funds have been exhausted for this opportunity.

"Thanks to the many donors who stepped up for this special match opportunity,” said HCCF President & CEO Julie Moorman. “We recognize that substance abuse recovery is a challenging issue and are proud to partner with these nonprofit organizations working in this area. The generosity of Harrison County residents and businesses is evidenced through meeting this special match."

Harrison County Community Services, with services complementary to those provided by the participating residential substance abuse recovery programs, has also been provided an opportunity to receive a separate special match opportunity for endowment fund growth of up to $150,000 from Lilly Endowment Inc. HCCS provides basic needs for a sustainable life, allowing more resources for sustainability on their recovery journey. HCCS will utilize donations through HCCF to build their endowment fund, where donations will be matched 2:1 (1:1 by Lilly Endowment Inc. and 1:1 by HCCF). This opportunity for HCCS remains in place until June 30, 2025, or matching funds are exhausted.
