Six New Builder's Funds Established to Support the Community

Corydon, Ind. (February 7, 2025) – Recently, Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) had six new named Builder’s Funds established by Harrison County residents passionate about making a lasting impact on the community. Builder’s Funds, like other endowment funds, begin with a gift placed in a set-aside fund held by the Foundation. However, Builder’s Funds are not designated for a specific cause, instead they allow the HCCF Board of Directors to approve funds for the most pressing community needs as they arise, alongside other grant funding. Builder’s Funds can be established by an individual, family, or business, and are invested to generate additional, ongoing support forever.
The Builder’s Funds recently established include:
- Betty Sue Bruska Family Builder’s Fund
- Donald and Eileen Franks Builder’s Fund
- Rusty and Lacy Crosier Builder’s Fund
- Sam and Becky Eckart Builder’s Fund
- Stanley E. and Susan A. Franks Family Builder’s Fund
- Tyler and Callie Best Family Builder’s Fund
HCCF President & CEO, Julie Moorman shared, “We are so appreciative of the generous donors who have established these new Builder’s Funds. It showcases their commitment to providing for the future of Harrison County.”
When it comes to establishing a Builder’s Fund, there are various ways to personalize it and make it meaningful. With a minimum initial gift of $2,500, donors can set up a fund in their own name, family name, or business name. Builder’s Funds can also be established in memory of or in honor of someone special.
Currently, there is a special 3:1 match in place for Builder’s Funds. Lilly Endowment Inc., as part of their GIFT (Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow) VIII Initiative, is offering a 2:1 match, and with HCCF’s 1:1 match currently in place, this becomes a 3:1 match for Builder’s Funds. This match will last until December 31, 2025, or until matching funds are exhausted.
Recent projects Builder’s Funds have helped fund alongside other grant funding include Veteran’s Housing Project for homeless and at-risk-of homelessness Veterans, Possibility Playground at Hayswood Park, and the Grandstand at the Harrison County Fairgrounds.
“With this special 3:1 match, it is the perfect time for new Builder’s Funds,” added Moorman, “I encourage local business owners to consider establishing a Builder’s Fund in their company name, as it is a great way to showcase their commitment to our community.”
