HCCF receives community planning grant from Lilly Endowment Inc.
The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) has been awarded a $46,500 community planning grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. (the Endowment). The grant is part of the Endowment’s seventh phase of its Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT) initiative.
Lilly Endowment Inc. is an Indianapolis-based private philanthropic foundation created in 1937 by three members of the Lilly family – J.K. Lilly Sr. and sons J.K. Jr. and Eli – through gifts of stock in their pharmaceutical business, Eli Lilly & Company. The Endowment exists to support causes of community development, education and religion. The Endowment’s community development grantmaking is designed to support efforts that enhance the quality of life in Indianapolis and Indiana.
HCCF’s planning grant will help the foundation to conduct an inventory of current strategic plans, identify common themes and start to put together a common vision for the future in partnership with community leaders.
The planning grant involves an inventory of existing strategic plans from Harrison County Government, the Chamber of Commerce of Harrison County, the Harrison County Economic Development Corporation, the Harrison County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Harrison County public schools, Harrison County towns and other community partners.
HCCF will be contracting with an outside consultant, Taylor Siefker Williams Design Group (TSWDG). TSWDG will review all the strategic plans and facilitate the planning process.
As part of the planning process, HCCF is reaching out to invited community leaders for a planning get together to be held in August, the first of a series of three meetings.
The goal of the planning process is to work collaboratively with multiple leaders to identify areas of focus that are important for the future of Harrison County. This planning process will help determine priorities for future funding and priority goals.
