3:1 Match Goal Met

Corydon, Ind. (August 1, 2025) – “Investing Today, Sustaining Tomorrow” was the slogan that highlighted a significant challenge given to the Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) back in October 2023. Through Lilly Endowment Inc.’s Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT VIII) Initiative, gifts to Builder’s Funds at HCCF were matched $3 to $1 (2:1 match from Lilly Endowment and 1:1 match from HCCF). The challenge was to raise $262,500 in unrestricted funds for the Foundation to use to enhance community support before December 31, 2025. On July 29, 2025, HCCF achieved this goal, exhausting the 3:1 matching opportunity five months before the final deadline. This accomplishment represents the successful completion of the matching challenge from Lilly Endowment Inc., a key component of the larger GIFT VIII Matching Grant Initiative.
During this special 3:1 matching period, individuals, families, anonymous donors, and businesses throughout Harrison County rose to the occasion. Twenty new named Builder’s Funds were established at the Foundation, demonstrating the collaborative spirit of the community. Additionally, donors with existing Builder’s Funds contributed, taking advantage of a unique opportunity to triple their impact. As a result of these efforts, the total number of Builder’s Funds held at HCCF has risen to 68.
“This campaign was a true community collaboration,” said Julie Moorman, President & CEO. “It’s inspiring to see how the residents, organizations, and business owners of Harrison County care deeply about the future of our community, evidenced by their generosity during this special match period.”
The $262,500 in unrestricted funds secured through GIFT VIII will provide the Foundation’s Board of Directors with the flexibility to utilize for the most pressing community needs as they arise, alongside other grant funding. These funds will serve as a lasting resource, strengthening HCCF’s ability to lead impactful change.
The Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to its donors for leveraging this special matching opportunity, thereby, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations. A special thank you to Lilly Endowment Inc. for enabling the Foundation to bring these matching funds to Harrison County.
While reaching this milestone concludes the 3:1 matching opportunity which included the 2:1 Lilly Endowment and the 1:1 HCCF match, HCCF continues to offer a 1:1 match on most endowment gifts. Builder’s Funds, like all endowment funds at HCCF, begin with a special gift placed in a set-aside fund held by the Foundation. These unrestricted gifts are invested to generate additional, ongoing support forever and are not designated for a specific purpose.
