Corydon, Ind. (December 17, 2025) – The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) is excited to share Lilly Endowment Inc. has announced the ninth phase of the Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT IX) Initiative.

GIFT IX is designed to help grow and support the Foundation’s unrestricted Builder’s Funds, which are endowment funds not designated for a specific purpose. This flexibility allows the HCCF Board of Directors to approve funds for the most pressing community needs as they arise, often alongside other grant funding. With Lilly Endowment Inc. offering a $2 for $1 matching opportunity and HCCF’s additional $1 for $1 match, the $3 for $1 match to Builder’s Funds is back!

The return of this exceptional matching opportunity to Builder’s Funds marks the beginning of another pivotal chapter for Harrison County, as our community can gain $750,000 in unrestricted funds through this GIFT IX Initiative. Builder’s Funds have played a crucial role in addressing local needs and supporting projects that positively impact the community’s future. Recent projects funded in part by Builder’s Funds include the installation of a new security notification system in every Harrison County school, the Boys & Girls Club North in Palmyra, Indiana, and the Veterans Housing Project.

When it comes to establishing a Builder’s Fund, there are various ways to leave a lasting legacy. Naming a Builder’s Fund “In Memory” allows you to commemorate a loved one, serving as a tribute to their life. Establishing a Builder’s Fund “In Honor” offers the opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge someone who has made a significant impact on your life or the community. Lastly, establishing a Builder’s Fund in your name, your family’s name, or your business name allows you to create a personal legacy and demonstrates your commitment to the community.

The minimum required to establish a Builder’s Fund is $2,500. Contributions can include gifts of stock, bonds, mutual funds, real estate, insurance, and proceeds from the sale of grain or livestock. Qualified Charitable Distributions or Required Minimum Distributions from IRAs are also accepted. Gifts to existing Builder’s Funds can be mailed or dropped off at 1523 Foundation Way NE, PO Box 279, Corydon, IN 47112, or securely made online at godonate.akoyago.com/hccf.

The $3 for $1 match to Builder’s Funds is available until June 30, 2028, or until matching funds are exhausted. For more information, visit hccfindiana.org/buildersfunds or contact Michelle Dayvault, Director of Development, at michelled@hccfindiana.org or (812) 738-6668.

Through GIFT IX, Lilly Endowment Inc. is allocating up to $135.75 million in matching fund grants to help Indiana community foundations strengthen the quality of life in the towns, cities, and communities they serve. Matching fund grants are one of several funding opportunities designed to help community foundations promote long-term viability, further strengthen their abilities to lead, encourage board engagement, and support and develop strategic efforts to enhance quality of life in their communities. This new phase of GIFT builds upon the Endowment’s longstanding belief that community foundations are uniquely positioned to play central roles in fostering the vitality of communities throughout Indiana.
