HCCF Provides Support During Recent Weather Events
Corydon, Ind. (August 14, 2026) – The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) in partnership with the Harrison County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) established the Harrison County Flood Disaster Relief Fund with the purpose of supporting relief efforts related to the June 9, 2026, flash flooding in Harrison County.
The establishment of the Harrison County Flood Disaster Relief Fund allows community members to make donations to help with flood recovery efforts. This pass-through fund, held by HCCF, directs donations to the Harrison County EMA who will administer the application process and provide assistance to those in need from the flood disaster.
At their August board meeting, the Foundation’s Board of Directors approved $10,000 from Builder’s Funds to the Harrison County Flood Disaster Relief Fund. Builder’s Funds are not designated for a specific purpose, allowing the HCCF Board of Directors to approve funds for pressing community needs as they arise, often alongside other grant funding.
EMA Director Mike Kurz said, “While the disaster relief process continues, the real relief comes from the community. Volunteers have helped with cleanup efforts, while community members have fundraised to support those affected, making a positive impact after such a devastating event.”
The Foundation approved two emergency grants related to weather emergencies. The Foundation provided a $25,000 emergency grant to the Lanesville Youth League to help rebuild T-ball fields, repair the gravel parking lot, and help with clean-up expenses from the flooding in Lanesville. In addition, the Foundation awarded a $25,000 emergency grant to the YMCA of Harrison County following a lightning strike to their building on June 9, 2026. The funding for this grant will be used to help cover repairs, replacement costs, and other expenses due to the lightning strike.

Community members who would like to contribute to ongoing flood recovery efforts may donate to the Harrison County Flood Disaster Relief Fund. Mail or drop off a check payable to HCCF, PO Box 279, Corydon, IN 47112, with “HC Flood” written in the memo.
