Corydon, Ind. (August 22, 2025) – The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) recently awarded $129,430 in grant funding to support the local projects of four nonprofits serving Harrison County. These grants will provide funding and resources to support the restoration of a historic church and community center, expand community services to those in need, and cover enrollment costs for adult learners. Each project reflects the resilience and dedication of individuals and groups working tirelessly to enhance the quality of life for the community, ensuring that vital resources and opportunities are accessible to all. As these initiatives come to life, they will undoubtedly foster a stronger, more connected community, paving the way for future generations to thrive.

  • South Harrison Community Development Corporation (SHCDC) received $77,180 in grant awards to fund building and parking lot repairs and help restock their food pantry at the South Harrison Community Center. By addressing critical safety and maintenance issues, repairs to the center will help maintain a safe, welcoming, and functional environment for Boone, Posey, Taylor, and Webster Townships served at the South Harrison Community Center. By improving the structural integrity of the building and restocking the pantry, SHCDC can continue to offer community events and services that further its mission of enhancing the well-being and growth of south Harrison County residents.

"We sincerely thank the Harrison County Community Foundation for their generous support through this grant. The repairs made possible through this funding will have a lasting impact on our ability to serve the community and maintain a safe, welcoming space for all,” stated Greg Lentz, SHCDC President.

  • Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, a historic 195-year-old church located in southern Harrison County, received a $42,000 grant – in addition to fundraising themselves – to support the installation and restoration of donated stained-glass windows, as well as the repair and replacement of existing ones. This project will enable Rehoboth to preserve this historic building and continue the legacy that has been established for nearly two centuries.
  • Community Action of Southern Indiana (CASI) received a $7,250 grant to support its expansion of services to residents in Harrison County. CASI provides a comprehensive approach to addressing the needs of impoverished individuals, families, and communities in southern Indiana. CASI provides services including Weatherization, Housing Choice Vouchers, and the Individual Development Account program. CASI plans to host Community Listening Sessions, where community members can share about their needs.

From the Keller Family Adult Vocational Fund, Harrison County Lifelong Learning received a $3,000 FOI endowment fund grant to assist adult learners enrolling in Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) Micro-Certification classes. This FOI endowment fund grant will enable six students to receive $500 each to cover the cost of the classes.

“We are incredibly thankful to the Harrison County Community Foundation for investing in the futures of our residents. This grant will empower adults to gain valuable technical skills that lead directly to good-paying, in-demand jobs in our community,” said Harrison County Lifelong Learning Director Tom Fields.

Field of Interest funds are established for a specific purpose, not for one particular entity. The Foundation currently holds 16 FOI funds, covering animals, arts, environmental needs, education, health and safety, recreation, and more.
