HCCF Awards Over $83,000 in Grants to Four Nonprofits

Corydon, Ind. (May 15, 2026) – The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) recently awarded four new grants totaling $83,272 to nonprofits providing services within Harrison County. These grants will help address community needs, including mental health services, youth mentorship, basic needs assistance, and outdoor educational opportunities.

Recent Grants Awarded:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana (BBBS) was awarded a $20,000 grant to expand the Igniting Youth Potential Through Mentorship program to youth in Harrison County. Through these programs, more Harrison County youth will receive individualized guidance and support from volunteer mentors to achieve academic success, stable mental well-being, and community connectedness. “With the support of the Harrison County Community Foundation, we can empower more youth in Harrison County to reach their full potential!” - Gary Freidman, BBBS of Kentuckiana CEO
  • Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana was awarded a $5,772 grant to purchase a new commercial lawnmower for the Stem Adventure Center located in Laconia. The mower will help the camp maintain its great condition and allow Girl Scouts to enjoy archery, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
  • Personal Counseling Services (PCS) was awarded a $25,000 grant to continue providing mental health services. PCS currently serves more than 870 individuals, families, first responders, and hospital staff in Harrison County. PCS offers psychotherapy, music therapy, medication management, play therapy, addiction counseling, and intensive outpatient programming. This funding will support mental health resources at its satellite site in Corydon, First Capital Christian Church.
  • St. Vincent dePaul was awarded a $32,500 grant to provide basic needs to approximately 1,700 Harrison County residents experiencing hardship, including food, shelter, utilities, and critical household goods. This grant will allow St. Vincent dePaul to help residents weather difficult moments and maintain stability in the community. St. Vincent dePaul relies on volunteers, parish support, and community partnerships to assist Harrison County residents facing financial crisis.

Together, these grants reflect HCCF’s ongoing commitment to investing in nonprofit programs and organizations that make a meaningful impact across Harrison County.

Unrestricted Grant applications are accepted year-round and allow the Foundation to respond to the diverse and ever-evolving needs of the community. Nonprofits and other entities that apply for grant funding through HCCF are required to have at least one current board member who has completed an HCCF-approved nonprofit board governance training program.
