Corydon, Ind. (July 1, 2026) – Nine endowment funds have been recently established at the Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF), creating lasting resources which will support nonprofit organizations, community initiatives, and causes, throughout the community for generations to come. While each fund serves a unique purpose, all share a common goal of enriching the lives and well-being of Harrison County residents.

“At HCCF, there are many different avenues a donor can choose from while establishing a fund,” states Michelle Dayvault. “They have the option to impact Harrison County residents with a Scholarship Fund, a specific organization with a Designated Fund, a favorite cause with a Field of Interest Fund, direct resources with a Donor Advised Fund, or allow HCCF’s Board of Directors to allocate for future projects with a Builder’s Fund.”

Builder’s Funds:

Builder’s Funds are not designated for a specific purpose, allowing the HCCF Board of Directors to approve funds for the most pressing community needs as they arrive, often alongside other grant funding.

Recently established Builder’s Funds:

  • Phil and Barb Crecelius Family Builder’s Fund
  • Wilfred J., Velva J., and Dennis J. Blank Family Builder’s Fund

Designated Funds:

Designated Funds are established to support a specific entity in Harrison County.

Recently established Designated Funds:

  • Corydon Community Garden Fund – provides support to the Corydon Community Garden.
  • Joey Curts #2508 Firefighter/EMT Memorial Fund – provides support to the Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department for firefighting apparatus, equipment, and/or facilities.
  • Lanesville Elementary School Physical Education (PE) and Fine Arts Fund – provides support to Lanesville Elementary School for fine arts and physical education.
  • Leadership Harrison County Class of 2026 Picture Communication Boards Fund – provides support to the Harrison County Parks Department for the maintenance of the Leadership Harrison County Class of 2026 Picture Communication Boards.
  • St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund – provides support to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery Inc.
  • Wilfred J., Velva J., and Dennis J. Blank Family Repair Affair of Harrison County, Inc. Fund – provides general support to Repair Affair of Harrison County, Inc.

Field of Interest Funds:

Field of Interest (FOI) Funds are established for a specific purpose, rather than a particular entity, allowing individuals to support a cause important to them.

Recently established Field of Interest Fund:

  • Beth Uesseler Boman Memorial Endowment Fund – provides support for programs that address the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

“The diverse interests of our donors and the flexibility HCCF provides to support their favorite causes is what makes endowment funds at the Foundation so special,” says Julie Moorman. “Whether supporting a specific organization or cause, addressing a community need, or providing flexible resources for future opportunities, every endowment fund contributes to making Harrison County the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”

These nine funds bring HCCF’s endowment fund total to 375. Endowment funds begin with a charitable vision and a gift placed in a set-aside fund held by the Foundation. Both the original and subsequent contributions are invested to generate additional, ongoing support for the fund’s intended purpose.

Gifts to establish or contribute to a Builder’s Fund are matched $3 for $1 from now to June 30, 2028, or until matching funds are exhausted, thanks to Lilly Endowment Inc.’s Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT) IX Initiative and HCCF’s matching program. Gifts to a Designated or Field of Interest Fund are matched $1 for $1 by HCCF.
