Corydon, Ind. (December 12, 2025) – The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) recently established six new endowment funds, each reflecting the diverse interests of donors and the flexibility HCCF provides to support causes important to them. These funds will help expand and enhance educational resources and assist families throughout Harrison County.

The first three new funds are intended to help students who are planning to pursue higher education in nursing, support extracurricular activities for a local school corporation, and provide services to families in Harrison County.

  • The Rosa Hutchins Nursing Scholarship Fund was established to support graduating high school students, home-schooled students, or returning students aged 16 to 24 in Harrison County, Indiana, who are pursuing an LPN, 2-year RN, or 4-year RN degree, or equivalent, at an accredited Nursing Program.
  • The Corydon Central Class of 1961 Extracurricular Fund was established to support extracurricular activities and opportunities for students in grades 1 through 12 who attend Corydon Central High School or its feeder schools.
  • The Ronald McDonald House Endowment Fund was established to provide support for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana, Inc. in providing essential services to residents and families of Harrison County, Indiana.

The remaining new funds are Field of Interest (FOI) funds, which are established for a specific purpose rather than a particular entity. These funds aim to enrich various educational programs, such as educator training or direct student engagement, across all Harrison County public schools.

  • The Beulah Hedges Miller Elementary Education Fund was established to provide support for innovative educational programs that enhance elementary education.
  • The T. Clifford Miller Industrial Arts Fund was established to provide support for industrial arts programs, with a preference for woodworking.
  • The Judith Elaine Miller Music and Math Fund was established to provide support for innovative educational programs that foster an understanding of, and build upon, the relationship between music and math.

HCCF now holds 19 FOI funds, covering a range of areas including animals, arts, environmental needs, education, health and safety, and recreation. For more information about Field of Interest funds, contact Kimberly Carter, Endowment Manager, at kimberlyc@hccfindiana.org or (812) 738-6668.

The process of establishing an endowment fund begins with a gift placed in a set-aside fund held by the Foundation. Both the original and subsequent contributions are invested to generate additional, ongoing support for the fund’s intended purpose. Currently, the Foundation holds 361 endowment funds supporting various nonprofit organizations or causes.
