Corydon, Ind. (August 29, 2025) – Three new endowment funds have been established at the Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF), focusing on honoring a beloved community church minister through scholarships and providing for a community center in Harrison County. These endowment funds represent more than just a donor contribution; they are a commitment to fostering growth and opportunity in Harrison County.

The United Presbyterian Church of the Covenant established two scholarship funds in honor of their beloved minister, Richard A. Goodwin. These scholarships are a way to continue Goodwin’s legacy, as both will provide financial support to graduating students from South Central Jr.-Sr. High School, homeschool, or faith-based high schools in good academic standing. Preference is for students who are residents of Boone, Posey, or Taylor Townships.

  • Church of the Covenant Richard A. Goodwin Scholarship Fund was established to support graduating students who are accepted into and attend accredited two or four-year public or private institutions of higher learning.
  • Church of the Covenant Richard A. Goodwin Vocational Scholarship Fund was established to provide support for students who are accepted into and attend a certified vocational training program, trade, certification program, or course of study.

The other endowment fund recently established:

  • Moore’s Chapel-Rosewood Community Church Fund was established to provide support to the South Harrison Community Development Corporation (SHCDC) and its ongoing effort to improve the well-being of South Harrison County residents. The endowment's name continues to honor the former church and its members who played a key role in establishing SHCDC.

“There is no more meaningful way to commemorate the people and places that have shaped our lives than by establishing an endowment fund in their name,” stated Julie Moorman, President & CEO. “I am grateful for generous donors who chose to preserve these legacies in a way which will impact generations to come.

The process of establishing an endowment fund begins with a gift placed in a set-aside fund held by the Foundation. Both the original and any subsequent contributions are invested to generate additional, ongoing support for the fund’s intended purpose. Currently, HCCF has 355 endowment funds that support various nonprofit organizations or causes.
