For adults trying to finish their college degree or earn a vocational certificate, taking summer courses may be beneficial. Summer courses can allow students to graduate faster, they typically do not fill up as fast and the classes are usually smaller.

The Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) can help Harrison County adults take classes they need in the summer. HCCF’s online Adult Scholarship Program Application for Summer 2020 Courses can be found at hccfindiana.org/Scholarships by clicking the “Apply Now” button. Applications must be submitted online by Tuesday, March 31 at 4 p.m. to be considered.

To be eligible, applicants must be at least 25 years old, and they need to be accepted into and enrolled in a degree or vocational training program. They also need to demonstrate that they have been legal residents of Harrison County for the past two years. Documentation such as tax forms, housing receipts or utility bills can be used to verify residency.

If applicable, applicants will also be requested to upload copies of transcripts from colleges previously attended. These do not have to be official, sealed originals. Copies will be sufficient.

Applicants may receive up to $5,000 per calendar year. Scholarship awards may be used for tuition, course-related fees and books. Applicants who have already earned a bachelor’s or associate’s degree are not eligible to apply.

The HCCF Adult Scholarship Program was developed to increase the number of adults within Harrison County who have a higher education degree. To learn more or to get questions answered, contact Heather Stafford, Director of Programs, at 812-738-6668 or heathers@hccfindiana.org.
